Too early to think about Halloween?

So have you thought about Halloween 2009?  I have.  I proposed to Matt that we go as a family of characters...  such as I would be the Dorothy, Matt could be the scarecrow, Caden can be the tin man and Grant could be the Lion...  Something like that..

Well, he just rolled his eyes at me.  He also laughed when I said I could make the costumes myself.

That said, I decided to look into web sites who might be able to help me...  I found one with everything I was needing for the 2 little ones.  http://www.childcostumes.com/ for the boy's cosumes and http://www.buycostumes.com for me and my dear husband.

Take a peak...  Hmm, I wonder what other fun family costumes we could come up with for me and my 3 men!  We also have a male dog to dress up!  haha!  (Poor Nicholas!)

NO MORE CLOTHES Please!

To say the least...  we don't need any more clothes for our baby...  The top is all clothes too small for Cade and the bottom are clothes that fit him now.  These are all onesies and shirts...  the pants are in his drawers off to the side!

Note to all family and friends...  please, no more clothes!

Back from a Brief Hiatus and Updates

I'm back... from a brief hiatus. A very well needed hiatus if I do say so myself. As I sit here... on my lunch break... I am eating some funky beef and pineapple rice meal and a slice of cookie cake reflecting on the past few weeks. Why? Because on April 2, the doctor sprung on me that I was 3 cm dilated and I had lost my mucus plug (I know, I know... TMI!). The week before, I went in for an ultrasound and Grant was measuring 7 lb, 13 oz at 36 weeks in utero! I was in a complete panic because I am due April 25 and thought I had another 3 weeks at work to complete 2 months worth of work. Nope.. She said "I'll be surprised if you make it through the weekend." Well, that coupled with my grandmother (84) having eye surgery on April 8, my mother was suppose to have another angioplasty (sp?) test for her carotid artery which they are saying is blocked to some extent on April 9, and my father in law having surgery on his knee AGAIN on April 9 to fix whatever didn't work the first time with his knee replacement more than 8 months ago. Well, I'm stressed enough right now and all of this just made my head spin. I'm now caught up at work and ready to go... mentally as prepared as I will get before giving birth to our 2nd son... and relieved that my grandmother and father in law are well and mom is switching doctors because her doc isn't listening to the surgeon. Well, yes, I take on too much and I'm the worry wart of the family so I must admit that all of this together along with my cousin still recovering from a serious scare with fainting (and of course I worry about my Ellie), taking over 1 board of directors, teaching and wrapping up the semester by April 6, and being a faculty advisor to a new PR Club at the university... my plate is full.

Well, I can honestly say that Life is calming down a little. Grant looks healthy as a horse but has slowed down with his crazy growth, family is all doing well, and I am blessed with supportive folks all around me.

In the office, I brought on an intern who is a GOD SEND to me this semester and she has agreed to stay on while I'm on maternity. She actually is turning into a good friend which is just that much more wonderful. She reminds me of .. well, me when I was in college... OVER ACHIEVER but dynamic. I just wish I had the budget to hire her full time. Ellie (my cousin) is coming down to help with Grant in late April or early May... whenever I need her. Caden LOVES his new nanny and her son, Alex. And Matt... my Dear Hubby... is such a God send when it comes to life in general. He cleans, cooks, helps me up in the middle of the night just so I can use the little girls room because I can't roll over myself at this point... ha! Yep... I'm back... ready to BLOG...

My Review of Kolcraft Contours Classique 3-in-1 Bassinet

Absolutely Perfect

5 5

Pros: Transportable, Easy to Adjust/Convert, Fits Anywhere, Sturdy

Cons: Difficult To Assemble

Best Uses: Preemies, Infants, Newborn

Describe Yourself: Parent of Two or More Children

We have a 17 month old at home and another on the way in 4 short weeks. Our Pack and Play goes to our older son's Nanny's home for him to sleep and will be converted into a bassinet for our newborn once he starts going in July. That said, the Pack and Play (which I have no complaints about) was $140ish and stays with the nanny at her home.

We used it for our older son to sleep in for the first few months of his life and then progressed into his large crib in his own room. We wanted to buy something similar but not something so large as the pack and play. The Pack and Play didn't fit through the doorway and that was a concern. What we found was this Kolcraft Bassinet. It's a traditional bassinet with a changing station (for up to 25 lbs!) and also a moses style bassinet that is removable to take from room to room. Now granted, it's on rollers so it can easily be navigated from room to room anyways.

The look of it also sold me on it. It's beautiful looking with solid wood. The only issue was that it was a little complicated (for me) to put together but the end result was the beautiful product you see in the photo. I really do give this the seal of approval from 411mommy.org. I'll keep you updated when our 2nd son is born if my mind changes for any reason but it fits perfectly in the house and is just a classy addition to our bedroom.

Review: MA! Motherhood with Attitude

Have you EVER looked for that perfect card for another mother? Lord knows I have. I try to get a point across and most cards don't even come close... the humor, frustration, and overall "it's just life" moments of motherhood. Yeah. Most items don't come close to what MA! Motherhood with Attitude has to offer!

So do I love these cards... heck yes. Do I think they are some of the funniest things I've ever seen... heck yes. But most of all, they have heart and a story behind each picture that real moms submit. Janalee and Tiffany really came across a niche market here when they created their brand, and I applaud them for their creativity and using real stories, real pictures and real situations to make their products because everyone knows you just can't make this stuff up!!

Look at the front of any card and the back will tell you the story. One of my favorites is they keys in the toilet!....  with the inside saying "Should I really be in charge of small children!"  haha!

411mommy Final Comments:  Well worth the money when you figure how much you spend on cards that mean nothing at Hallmark or the other stores.  Then you have to take into consideration how the other mother is really going to feel when she seens what you have given her.  The laugh will be worth the few dollars you spent!  They have cards, note cards, fridge reminder pads, and much more!  Check them out! They also have FREE ecards that you can send...  too fun!  And don't forget to look at their BLOG. Finally, they have an e-newsletter!!  Sign up for free!

411Mommy Readers Discount:  20% off for anyone reading 411mommy with the code "411mommy".  How cool is that!!  Make a point to go and read the cards if nothing else...  it will make your day!!

This one is definitely 411Mommy approved!  Way to go MA!
